Dr. Jing Hua is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Wayne State University (WSU) and the founding director of Graphics and Imaging Lab (GIL) and Visualization Lab (VIS). He joined Wayne State University in the Fall of 2004 and received the tenure and promotion to associate professor in 2009. In 2007, he established the Center for Visual Informatics and Intelligence (VII) with his colleagues. Dr. Hua received his Ph.D. degree (2004) and M.S. degree (2002) in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He also received his M.S. degree (1999) in Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, P. R. China and his B.S. degree (1996) in Electrical Engineering from the Huazhong University of Science & Technology in Wuhan, P. R. China. His research interests include Computer Graphics, Visualization, 3D Image Analysis and Informatics. He has published peer-reviewed papers in the above research fields at top journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Visualization, MICCAI, CVPR, ICDM, etc. He received the Gaheon Award for the Best Paper of International Journal of CAD/CAM in 2009, the Best Paper Award at ACM Solid Modeling 2004, the WSU Faculty Research Award in 2005, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award in 2008, and the K. C. Wong Research Award in 2010. He is a Principal Investigator for research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Michigan Technology Tri-Corridor, 21st Century Jobs Funds, Ford Motor Company, and WSU. Dr. Hua serves as an Editorial Board Member for ISRN Computer Graphics, the Open Virtual Reality Journal, International Journal of Technology Enhanced Learning, Scientific Journals International and Journal of Digital Culture as well as a Program Committee Member for many international conferences. He is a member of IEEE.
