Stained Glass Windows in the Sanctuary of
First Baptist Church of Royal Oak
Stars
Stars have been important in Christian symbolism from the very beginning of the Christian era. The five-
pointed stars found in the window lead us to Bethlehem in the story of the Three Wisemen coming to see
the baby, Jesus, (Matthew 2: 1-12). Other stars have other meanings. The six-pointed star, made up of two
triangles, is called the star of creation. The seven-pointed star is emblematic of the seven gifts to be
received by "the Lamb who was slain", (Revelation 5:12). The eight-pointed star is called the symbol of
baptism or rebirth. The nine-pointed star is the shining symbol of the nine fruits of the Spirit described in
Galatians 5:22-23.
