Stained Glass Windows in the Sanctuary of
First Baptist Church of Royal Oak
Music
From Genesis through Revelations, the Bible makes many references to the part that music plays in life
and worship. The book of Psalms is the hymnal of the Old Testament. It has long had a memorable place
in Christian worship. This symbolic pane with its harp, trumpet and staff with musical notes, is a
reminder of the intimate relationship between religious faith and music; of sorrow and joy; of tragedy and
triumph. These and other moods in the life of man are part of our religious history. Psalm 150 distills it
all in this memorable poetry of praise.
"Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with Lute and harp!
Praise Him with timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with strings and pipe!
Praise Him with sounding cymbals;
Praise Him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!"
