Stained Glass Windows in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Royal Oak

Latin Cross

The cross, in its several variations, appears more frequently in these windows and throughout the Christian world than any other symbol. Among its many meanings are: (1) The cross on which Jesus was crucified. (2) The empty cross reveals that our crucified Savior is now our risen Lord. (3) The cross which stands for commitment unto death on the part of the genuine Christian in his relationship to Christ. (4) The voluntary cross which every Christian is called to carry from day to day in following Christ.

Jesus took what was a symbol of humiliation and death and made it a triumphant symbol of faith.
