Fish
The fish was one of the earliest of Christian symbols. By it Christians would secretly identify themselves
to each other. One authority also states that it was used to mark the homes where the Lord's Supper would
be served. Its symbolism is richly emblematic because the Greek word for fish, IXOUS (ichthus), consists
of the five letters which, in Greek, comprise the initial letters of "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior."
